The Destination Wedding Experience

Gloria and Omar drove from Italy in their camper van with their two children and dog. When they arrived in Flåm, they stayed at Flåm Camping.

The wedding day started as many of our weddings do, with hair and makeup at Eva’s salon. After a quick photoshoot, Gloria travelled to the waterfront fjord venue at a private house with stunning views of Flåm and the Aurlandsfjord. There, Omar and her two children waited for her to arrive.

The ceremony was conducted by an Italian speaking celebrant. They made their vows to each other and using a braided cord they tied the knot in the traditional handfasting ritual. After the ceremony Gloria, Omar and their kids did a sand mixing wedding ritual together.

The sand mixing ritual represents the unity between Gloria, Omar and their children. During this ritual, each of them took a container of different colored sand, symbolizing their unique qualities, backgrounds, and experiences. They then simultaneously poured their sand into a single vessel. The resulting mixture serves as a tangible reminder of the family’s commitment to support and nurture one another while acknowledging their individuality.

After the ceremony the lovely family enjoyed a fjord BBQ charcuterie lunch. After lunch it was time for the SUV photoshoot adventure where they captured magical moments by the fjord, in the mountains and at the Stegastein viewpoint.

The evening started with an outdoor family dinner at a private house in Aurland with an outdoor kitchen and an open fire, and ended with sparklers by the fire.

In August, Flåm experiences mild temperatures ranging from 15° to 22°C, with long daylight hours that create a magical ambiance for outdoor ceremonies.
