Legal vs. Symbolic Wedding

When considering a destination wedding, you need to consider two types of marriages: legal or symbolic.  We offer both celebrations and we are with you along the way no matter what you choose.

A legal marriage is ideal for those seeking legal recognition, protection, and rights. It’s the option for those who want the full legal benefits and structure of a recognized union. If you’re comfortable with tradition, a legal marriage may be the best choice.

A symbolic marriage is a flexible, non-legal ceremony for couples who want a more personalized or spiritual commitment without the formalities of a legal union. If you prefer something unconventional, a symbolic marriage can be a great option.

Our Legal Wedding

The legal wedding is for those who wish to get married legally in Norway and get a marriage certificate that is valid all over the world.

Getting married abroad might sound complicated, and you might have some questions.

That’s why we provide support with legal applications. We recommend a minimum of 4 months in advance to have time to prepare the documents. We provide a step-by-step PDF guide on how to apply for the required non-impediment certificate. The PDF guide will be sent to you once your date is booked.

We have learned a lot from past experiences and have a 100% success rate.

For a legal wedding you can choose between Mayor or Humanist officiant.

The Mayor ceremony is included in your package, but 95% of our couples choose to upgrade to a Humanist officiant by paying a fee.

The Humanist will have a couple of meetings with you to get to know who you are and customise the ceremony to suit you. This is a much more meaningful and romantic ceremony and highly recommended.

Our Symbolic Wedding

A symbolic wedding celebration in Norway means your marriage ceremony will not be legally recognised.

The symbolic ceremony will be conducted by a symbolic celebrant, included in your package.

The ceremony is just as romantic as a legal marriage ceremony, and you will still make your vows to one another and exchange rings.

You can choose symbolic if you’re already married, if you want a vow renewal, or if simply you don’t want to get legally married. Either way, through a symbolic ceremony you still get the unique moment of saying your vows and saying I do

We are here to always assist you in the process and answer any questions that might come up along the way.
